One day sale websites

November9

I’ve always been a bit cynical about the one-day-sale websites that have started popping up here there and everywhere. My first impression was that they were selling a lot of cheaply priced Tat that people didn’t need to buy. There’s certainly an element of people getting too excited over these sites. Grabone.co.nz has more than 50,000 people who “like” it on Facebook.

I have, however, seen the other side of them. I’ve noticed that some of the sites like DailyDo.co.nzoffer services (eg dental work and beauty therapy) and tourism days out at really cheap prices. I went on a Kayak Fishing expedition, which I have written about for the NZ Herald. The other customers had bought their tours from DailyDo.co.nz at half the face price.  If you want to do something like this it’s a great bargain.

I love GrabOne – I spend money I have budgetted as spending money on food vouchers, which is where a lot of my spending money goes anyway, and am not only compelled to try new places (which I value) but my dollar goes a lot further. I have also nabbed quite a few really good deals from 1-day over the years – thinking about what you need and what you would pay elsewhere is important but I’ve bought clothing, furniture and food for good prices (I have to admit 4kg of licorice allsorts was probably not a necessary purchase but my flatmates liked me for it!).

You can definitely get a bit swept away but as with anything so long as you think about what it’s worth to you you can snap up a bargain. 🙂

I also flip through the “Best Buys” booklet that gets dropped in our mail boxes. Last week I bought a mobile and Vf ($30) sim pack for an all up $45/=. A basic phone with a torch which will just do the job when you are out on a jog or out camping 🙂

Will check out GrabOne for sure and DailyDo seems to be just what me and friends need 🙂

I’ve seen them and probably looked at them…but I haven’t ever used them.

I might keep an ‘eye’ on them especially as some of the past ‘treats’ look intriguing etc…

The experience/ voucher like grabone sites are good, but I prefer 3deals.co.nz for great products on special. I’ve bought gifts for friends and stuff for the house at the most amazing prices. It’s saved me a fortune and they have provide great service.
